He is best known for his songs “Margaritaville” and “Cheeseburger in Paradise.” Buffett was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and grew up in Mobile, Alabama. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in journalism. Buffett began his musical career in Nashville, Tennessee, and released his debut album Down to Earth in 1970. His 1973 album A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean was his first major success, reaching #12 on the Billboard 200 chart. Buffett’s 1977 album Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes was his breakthrough album, reaching #27 on the Billboard 200.

In 2013, Buffett made a cameo appearance on the CBS show Hawaii Five-0. He played and performed the song “Bama Breeze” with Zac Brown. Buffett is known for his love of all things tropical, so it’s no surprise that he would make an appearance on a show set in Hawaii. And what’s more tropical than a song about the Gulf Coast of Alabama? Buffett is no stranger to acting, either. He’s appeared in several movies and TV shows, including an episode of Tales from the Crypt in 1992.

Buffett is also known for his philanthropy. He founded the Save Our Sons and Daughters foundation, providing financial assistance to families with children with life-threatening illnesses. He’s also involved with several other charities, including the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the American Red Cross.
